In Montenegro, parliamentary elections will be held today, in which voting rights have 542,468 voters that will be determined among 15 electoral lists.
These are the third elections in the election cycle within 9 months in Montenegro, in which the Democratic Party of Socialists (PDS) enters without its leader, Milo Djukanovic, who after three decades has withdrawn as party leader, as in the second round of presidential elections has lost the election against rival from the Movement Europe Now James Milatovic.
In today's elections for the first time, the “Europe movement Now”, which according to research has the greatest support of citizens. Always according to polls made, the second in the number of supporters is “the Democratic Party of Socialists” (PDS). The “Europe movement Now” has created former prime ministers of Zdravko Krivokafic's government, Milloko Spajic and the current president, Jakov Milatovic.
Both -- one in the post of finance minister and the other in the post of economy minister -- are remembered by the opinion because they have implemented the “programme. Europe now 1” that has meant rising wages and pensions, and for that reason they have immediately enjoyed extraordinary popularity and admiration among the citizens of Montenegro.
In this campaign this movement was presented with the “Europe 2” programme, which also envisions rising wages, pensions, general welfare and Montenegro's membership in the European Union (BE). Although this movement has high quotas in polls, it will hardly be able to form the new government itself, to be stable with priority tasks and to get the country out of the multi-year-old political and economic crisis, and to continue fighting organised crime and corruption.
From “Europe has now said it will not make a post-election coalition with former Freedom of Socialists' Democratic Party Milo Djukanovic. But, after all the events of the last few days and after being around Don Vaughn's letter, this move has said it does not want post-election partnership with Alexa Beciqi's coalition Democrats, respectively, with Dritan Abazovic's URA movement.
Because of this created situation, part of analysts and connoisseurs of political situations have not ruled out the possibility of repeating early parliamentary elections, because no coalition or subject will have the absolute majority of 41 seats in Montenegro's Parliament.
A few days before the elections, Montenegro has faced threatening messages for placing explosives and toxic canisters in some state institutions. Part of the institutions that have been threatened are schools, the Assembly building, pre-school institutions, court buildings, prosecutors, some ministries, the National Security Agency in five cities. / KP
