There's a truck-barricade in Zvecan: The situation is calm, but under tension

Kosovo Police Special Unit forces are standing around the Zvecan municipality facility.

Just moments ago, a truck-load was removed from the police force.

Five police officers have been injured and four vehicles have been damaged yesterday (26 May) by incidents in northern Kosovo. So has Kosovo Police, stressing that one of the cars has been burned.

In order to prevent mayors from entering municipal facilities, some citizens have gathered in front of municipal buildings in the country's north. In addition to employed persons and their vehicles located near and near municipal facilities, alarms have been issued in northern municipalities used by criminal structures for mobilization and gatherings.

Zvecan Mayor Leposaviqi and the chairman of Zubin Potok, issued by the April 23rd elections, have sworn in Thursday (25 May). None of them have been sworn in at the site of the respective municipality, except the mayor of northern Mitrovica.

The elections in the north have been boycotted by the largest Serbian party in Kosovo, the Serb List, with the support of official Belgrade.

The preliminary leaders from this party have resigned last November. They have left the institutions in disappointment with the Kosovo government's decision that has forced citizens to return car plates from illegal to those in the Republic of Kosovo. / KP
