To maintain sovereignty, alliances are also important to the PDK deputy head.
Co-ordination with Allies, and specifically the United States is national interest, is of value.
History teaches us clearly and without equivocal evidence that alliances are as important as sovereignty.
It should be stressed that following recent actions in the country's north by the Kosovo Police at the order of Kosovo's prime minister, it has been sharply criticised by the US.
He was US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, who has been named the action by Prime Minister Kurti as the destabilising side in the matter.
I strongly condemn the actions of the Government of Kosovo that are escalating tensions in the north and increasing instability. We call on Prime Minister Albin Kurti to immediately stop this violent move and focus on the EU facilitated dialogue”.
The European Union through spokesman Peter Stano expressed their dissatisfaction with the escalation of the situation in the north in a more harsh and less diplomatic tone than usual.
“Kosovo: The European Union strongly condemns clashes in the north, condemns attacks on Elux patrols. All must take action to de-excease the situation and return peace. The EU will no longer accept further unilateral, provocative steps”, he has said.
