Institute Director E PIK, Demush Shasha stressed that this will allow enough time for Kosovo institutions to undertake the necessary information camps for the rights and obligations of citizens stemming from the free movement in the Schengen Zone.
According to him, this will also give border authorities of EU countries time to prepare for the free movement of Kosovo citizens on 1 January 2024.
On April 19th, the legal act has been signed through which Kosovo has legally been liberalised.
Visa liberalisation to go into effect on date of operating system E TIAS but not later than January 1, 2024 - even if this system does not go into operation until that date.
Under European Parliament rules, visa liberalisation means that Kosovo citizens will have time to stay 90 days in the Schengen Zone in a period of 180 days.
