EU spokeswoman Zoe Muletier has spoken of Serbia's vote against Kosovo in the Council of Europe.
“Note that the Council of Europe Committee of Ministers voted yesterday for the delivery of Kosovo's application for membership to its Parliamentary Assembly (APKE). The Council of Europe members decide that. In the Belgrade-Pristina Dialogue, the EU expects all provisions of the Agreement to be properly implemented, in trust and independent of each other which the parties agreed on on the application annex in Ohrid”, Muletier said.
According to her, each side must give something to get something in return.
“The EU as a facilitator of Belgrade Dialogue in Pristina is fully aware of the political sensibilities and complexities related to the implementation process, and for that reason we have submitted a proposal to the parties for a step-by-step approach in the phase of implementing it help them implement their obligations. She follows a simple logic that each side must do something to get something. This is the only realistic way to do things and offers a balance and guarantee”, she said of RTV21.
Muletier has said that the Ohrid Agreement between Kosovo and Serbia cannot be set preconditions for implementation.
“The chief negotiators could not reach an agreement April 4th in Brussels, and discussions continue. Therefore, leaders are expected to discuss this issue at the 2 May summit. While the discussions continue, neither side should set any preconditions because implementation of the Agreement cannot work that way and also conflicts with what has been agreed on”. /Front Online
