Now, Tesla's chief and Twitter is the second richest billionaire, worth an estimated $180 billion, which is $39 billion less than a year ago.
Meanwhile, the first country has been given to Bernard Arnault, the head of French luxury giant LVMH. His net wealth increased more than $50 billion last year to $221 billion.
But this should not be a surprise to Musk, whose position was shaken to the “Milliarders' real-time” of Forbes, which is updated every day for the last few months.
He and Arnault often differ countries.
The new list traces its wealth each year. Forbes explained that Musk's wealth had fallen because his $44 billion purchase on Twitter, financed by Tesla's stock, scared investors and caused Tesla's stock to sink significantly last year.
Tesla won many of these losses this year, but it is still lower than before Musk bought Twitter.
According to Forbes, “Musk has mainly pulled itself out of Twitter from the first place in the order” because Tesla's shares have been dropping 50 percent since buying a year ago.
SpaceX is a bright country for billionaire, notes the magazine, as its estimate has increased $13 billion to $140 billion over the past year.
On the other hand, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos has lost the largest amount of money from every billionaire on the list, bringing him down from second to third.
And this loss could be attributed to the Amazon stock that lost almost 40 to the bottom of their value last year.
And Arnault had a bright year because of record profits in the luxury conglomerate, which includes Louis Vuitton, Christian Dior and Tiffany & Co.
LVMH shares have grown 25 per cent over the past year, and it has recently unveiled heritage plans for its children.
According to Forbes, the total number of billionaires on this year's list dropped to 2 thousand and 640 (from 2 thousand and 668), marking the second consecutive year of decline.
There's been another rare year for the richest people on the planet”, there's been Chase Peterson-Withorn, senior editor of Forbes.
More than 250 people on last year's list did not appear on this year's list, including Canye West, who lost his deal with Adidas and attacked FTX founder Sam Bankman-Fried, who lost 94 percent of his property in one day.
