In his address after the Stabilisation and Association Council meeting held in Tirana, Borrell said the <x0-second agreement is closed, we are working with the appendix for its implementation”.
Borrell said this agreement would put Pristina and Belgrade on a more stable and secure basis.
On February 27th, we had a high-level meeting in Brussels that I organised along with President Vucic and Prime Minister Kurti. We agreed that no further discussion of the European Union's proposal was needed. We consider the language of this agreement to be closed”, Borrell said.
This agreement brings much hope for normalising relations between Pristina and Belgrade. But one thing is agreement and another thing is how and when that agreement is implemented. There have been agreements in the past that have never been implemented. It is currently agreed on the agreement, but we are working on its implementation”, Borrell added.
“This implementation is an appendix that is part of the agreement itself which will force the parties to secure and have the same sense in terms and modalities. This agreement puts Kosovo and Serbia closer to a more stable basis and ensures that dialogue will continue with the inclusion dialogue and will go beyond crisis management”, EU High Representative Borrell said.
Borrell's statement comes two days before the new round of dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia, to be held on March 18th in Ohrid, North Macedonia, where the parties will talk about implementing the European proposal.
