Kearns: British government doesn't want Serb enclaves in Kosovo

And her position, MP Alicia Kearns, also revealed it exclusively in an interview with the clansova, where British concerns on the European plan are spread.

She specifically mentioned the point for association, which she refers to as “lenkv”.

Kosovo is a country that deserves our support and friendship, and I am very concerned that the proposal currently presented by Germany-France and the US is not enough for Pristina for what the people of Kosovo need to build the best possible -- the future for themselves”.

I'm especially concerned about the enclaves' proposals, because we don't know what that means. We must not breathe from ethnoterriticism in this day and age. We have to work towards multicultural societies where people respect each other, respect history and know what happened and can build a strong future together”, the British MP said.

However, she says Kosovo is left to determine its own path, while stressing support for each response of the Kosovo government in accordance with this agreement.

The privileged “that I had the opportunity to meet with many of your leaders in recent months, but this is a decision for Kosovo and I will support any decision your government makes”, Kearns said.

While she also talks about discussions at meetings she had with President Vjosa Osmani, she finds exclusively that she plans to visit Kosovo.

Thus, I had the privilege of meeting with your president [Vjosa Osmani] to discuss Kosovo's future and its priorities, and it is clear that Kosovo has really strong goals as regards ambitions for its people. And it is very clear that Kosovo can contribute greatly to the European community, and I very much hope that I can visit the coming months”.

I Clancosova.tv: Does that mean you are planning to visit Kosovo?

Kearns: I'd love to, so I'm trying to arrange a visit next month.

British MP Alicia Kearns also unveiled the British government's stance, saying the same does not necessarily support the establishment of the Association of Serb majority municipalities.

Therefore, even the British government has said it does not respect or support the proposal for the establishment of the Serb enclave in Kosovo. And I was very pleased to see them confirm in response to my question to the ministers,”, she stressed in this interview.

But despite the situation, Kearns estimates he fails to understand the compromise in the European plan.

She says the situation in Kosovo, except for that, has been discussed by British ministers.

Alicia Kearn also stated that the British government wants to see peace between the two states.

“So I think the British government wants to see peace between Serbia and Kosovo, we want to see the recognition of both countries and we want to see respect between these two countries. I think Great Britain wants to know that Kosovo is happy and comfortable with what has been presented. But it is also not up to us to say what Kosovo should or should not decide”, the British MP declares.

Meanwhile, for Serbia, it is important not to hold two positions, but also to acknowledge that it is responsible for inhumane acts.

“It is very important that Serbia accept that, if it wants to be a member of the European community, it cannot continue to hold two positions. It must decide whether it wants to be a productive member of the European community, and that means dealing with its past, knowing where the terrible acts have been in people and terrible atrocities, and getting to know the people of Kosovo who deserve self-determination. All of us as Democrats should respect self-rule”, she said.

Among other things, Kearns confirms that the British delegation supports Kosovo's membership in the Council of Europe.

She says she is counting on Iceland, which currently heads the KiE Presidency by May of this year, for Kosovo there to become a full member of the European family.

Another thing I hope for is that Iceland, which heads the Council of Europe this year ... I hope Iceland will make sure that Kosovo becomes a full member of European countries and knows that the British delegation fully supports this”.

So, I think it's really important that as many countries in Europe listen to the voice of Kosovo and make sure that we understand your perspectives and priorities. I want to come to your country because I've long wanted to do this and I hope to have an opportunity to learn more about the country and explore it and also understand what your priorities are what you need about the support of Britain”, the British MP argued.

At the end of February, Doarsa Kica-Jeli, deputy of the Democratic League of Kosovo, accused Vetevendosje Movement of usurping the Commission for Foreign Affairs.

She said that, after Hakki Abazi's dismissal from the post of chairman of this commission, LVV's nominated in that position, Arbene Kryziu-Hyseni, had written letters to US senator Robert Menedez, as well as British MP Alica Kearns.

For these two letters, she says she has not consulted members of this commission.

At the same time, asked whether she received any letters from Kryeziu-Hysen, as reported, the British MP had no concrete answers, but said the “needs to see the following days”.
