Bushati: With the will to sign Kosovo helped partners who have wrong thoughts about Serbia

He has said Serbia's refusal to sign this agreement does not testify to the recognition of this process, while adding that Kosovo testified to the will to sign both documents.

The “Ohrid Meeting between Kosovo and Serbia mediated by the European Union ended with the adoption of the agreement's implementation plan agreed on February 27th. Common to both documents is the lack of signing them. Serbia's refusal to sign does not testify to a recognition of the process. By contrast, Kosovo came forward, witnessing its will to sign both documents. In this way, Kosovo also helped international partners who wrongly think that cares about Serbia and not its siege from success history is the way of its secession from Russia”, Bushati has written.

The agreement that the two sides' commitments in this process be embedded on their path to the EU, Bushati estimates it will create better synergies between the process of dialogue and the process of Kosovo and Serbia's EU membership.

“Despite expectations, the implementation plan is even shorter than the agreement itself and without many details, as usually happens in such documents. However, in Ohrid it was agreed that the commitments of the parties in this process should be embedded on their way to the EU, which is expected to create a better synergy between the process of dialogue and the process of Kosovo and Serbia's EU membership. After unanimous support of the member states of the February 27th Agreement, the Franco-German Plan was officially transformed into a European Plan, with US support as well. Therefore, the EU is not alone in the position of dialogue mediator between Kosovo and Serbia, but also directly involved in implementing commitments. The process this linked to the membership of Kosovo and Serbia in the EU.”

Bushati has written that with the new positioning, the EU has the golden opportunity to complete the Kosovo citizenship process, Europeanisation of Serbia and membership of all Western Balkan states in the EU.

According to him, the best way to respond to Russian aggression in Ukraine is to complete the effects of wars in the former Yugoslavia and consolidate the European project in a geographical space, surrounded by EU member states.

“If in the past the EU has shown in not a few cases a lack of credibility, not adhering to its commitments to the countries of the region, with this new position the EU has the golden opportunity to complete the Kosovo citizenship process, the Europeanisation of Serbia and the membership of all Western Balkan states in the EU as soon as possible. The best way to respond to Russian aggression to the east of the continent is to complete the consequences of wars in the former Yugoslavia and consolidate the European project in a geographical space, surrounded by EU member states, such as the Western Balkans”, wrote Bushati on Facebook.
