Tens of thousands of American families are facing serious problems and power cuts because of the severe weather that has hit most states in recent days.
Concretically, almost half a million families -- over 400,000 -- suffer from power cuts due to storms, floods, snowfalls and strong winds.
California and many countries have declared a state of emergency. Nearly a meter of snow has covered parts of New York, as well as New Hampshire and Massachusetts.

New York City and several counties in New Jersey have issued an emergency warning.
