Prosecutor: In March and April, we will have the first acts of sexual violence during the war in Kosovo

The Special Prosecutor at the War Crimes Department, Drita Hajdari, has stated that over the following months, the first charges would be filed with trial in the absence of the task chief, in terms of sexual violence during the recent war in Kosovo.

Hajdari has made it known that, in four cases, there would be an accusation against four persons in absence.

During March, April will have the first charges in absentia. There are four cases of sexual violence for which an indictment will arise in the absence of the chief. We have prepared-completed the legal conditions for this, recently these persons have been declared in search of the Official Journal of Kosovo, and after this deadline is expired the conditions for establishing charges in the absence of”, she has declared on the “Hers” show in Tv1.

In addition to sexual violence during the recent war in Kosovo, it has indicated that there are other war crimes cases that are pending meeting the legal criteria for the indictment.

She has added that the topic of women raped during the war in Kosovo is not only a subject of prosecution, but also of society as a whole, since victims according to her should be encouraged to report the case to both the police and the prosecutor
