Serbian citizens of the country's four northern municipalities are not informed about the energy agreement between KEDS and Elektroseveri, which will enable them to access the flow spent.
Although they do not know the details of this agreement, they, during a conversation for Kosova Prees, suggest they should start paying for the current they spend.
Momir Mijovic, a citizen from northern Mitrovica, says he knows nothing about the provisions of the energy agreement between KEDS and Elektrosever, but is willing to pay the spent electricity.
Even Slavica Jankovic, another citizen from the north of this city, has admitted not to being informed of the deal.
She said if I have to pay the power, she will.
On the other hand, analyst Branislav Krstic stressed that northern Serb citizens are surprised at the fact that Serbian President Aleksandar Vuciq is becoming unaware of the deal, while, as he said, his cabinet itself, has suggested that the Elektrosever company sign this agreement with KEDS.
“E have realised that the current is not from God“, he said, among other things.
According to him, Belgrade historically has always betrayed Serbs, originally in Croatia, and now in Kosovo.
In contrast, between 1999 and 2017, the energy debt for the north has been paid by citizens of other municipalities in the country. Their bills have been higher for 3.5 per cent. However, following numerous complaints, the Court of Appeals in Kosovo has decided in late 2017 about the suspension of this practice, arguing it is illegal. This decision was later confirmed by the Constitutional Court of Kosovo, and the payment has been passed to the Operator of the System, Transmission and Electricity Market in Kosovo (KOSTT), under which it has become known that losses from non-paying electricity in the north have reached 40m euros in 2021 alone.
