Following numerous citizens' reactions and complaints that this month, electricity bills have gone higher than usual, KEDS and KESCO have come up with a clarification, writes Periscope.
In clarification KEDS and KESCO have called on all sides to engage in constructive dialogue and not politicise their operations.
“Call on all sides to engage in constructive dialogue and recognize our role as defined by regulatory frames”, it says in clarification./Periscope
Complete explanation:
KEDS, KESCO clarify their position amid political disputes in the country
December 26th, Pristina, Kosovo
Finally, KEDS and KESCO have once again been found at the centre of continuing political bickering for political gains among rival political parties.
As private entities operating in Kosovo, KEDS and KESCO want to address these issues directly and transparently.
KEDS, KESCO role and responsibilities
KEDS and KESCO are private companies, operating under the Kosovo Constitution, which guarantee rights and obligations for any private enterprise within the country.
Our primary goal is to provide reliable and efficient services to distribute and supply electricity to the people of Kosovo.
Misunderstandings About Prices and Prices
An important point of disagreement has been the misunderstanding over the definition of prices and electricity tariffs.
We want to clarify that KEDS and KESCO do not set those awards. This is the competence of regulatory authorities, which operate independently of our companies. KEDS and KESCO strictly adhere to the tariffs defined by these regulatory organs.
Calls for Respect and Understanding
It is depressing to politicise our operations for political gain. We strongly believe that the public and political parties should respect the autonomy of the scope of private companies, envisioned in our constitution.
Unfound accusations and political attacks not only misinterpret our role, but also undermine Kosovo's business environment.
Moving Forward
KEDS and KESCO remain committed to serving the people of Kosovo and contributing to the country's economic and social development.
We call on all sides to engage in constructive dialogue and recognise our role as defined by regulatory frameworks.
Together, we can work towards a brighter and safer future for Kosovo.
