Minister of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation Arberie Nagavci has held the weekend conference today, where she made the ministry's one-year work presentation. It has told of the results, assessments, work and challenges of this ministry this year.
Nagavci has begun her speech with the Dol lesson, where she feels that it is the most important because it contributes to learning as well as a knowledge of the job market among students.
She said Kosovo has needed this decision, but that it has also been the government's promise that is coming true.
We have also revised professional curriculums, we have also begun with the professional qualifications of education teachers and professional education and recognition of the preliminary experience of their work”, Nagavci said.
Reviewing the Albanian language and mathematics school texts was another ministry achievement, according to Nagavci. She said 38 texts from first class to ninth grade have been revised.
It has also talked about a 2024 budget increase.
“As for the education budget, the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo days ago adopted the budget for next year. In 2024, 408m and 988 thousand and 408 euros in education are planned.
Nagavci said this marks budget increases for this area.
“As far as legislation is concerned, I would like to isolate the adoption of the law on education in early childhood, which is a very important step. Through this law, the delivery of quality education is regulated in all forms of education for our youngest”, Nagavci said.
Nagavci said that by next year, primary schooling would be mandatory for every student.
Furthermore, she has mentioned that it is the first time Kosovo has a public college, that of IBCM.
170 thousand euros have been earmarked for associations working with students with extraordinary gifts and talents, with rewards shared for those students, Nagavci made known. In her view, the encryption clock, intended to teach students about technology and codification, has also been initiated.
“1647 students following studies at the Bachelor and Master Level at Kosovo public universities who have average marks 9 have benefited from a thousand euros, where the total amount is 1m and 647 thousand euros. 28 disabled students have benefited from a thousand euros and a total is 28 thousand euros. 55 community students have also been rewarded with a thousand euros”, Nagavci said.
In the meantime, it has also mentioned building nests and school facilities during their leadership in education.
“In 2023 has completed the construction of nests in Suhareka and Prizren, building 12 new nests that are contracted with investments from August and other projects we have from the EU. As far as school facilities are concerned, we have completed the construction of six school objects, and the construction of 15 new schools” continues.
Nagavci has also cited sharing of supplements from the ministry for school materials needs, from 80 euros for primary-grade students to sixth grade, and from 30 euros for sixth-graders to ninth grade.
As for the test P ISA, the minister said the results were expected.
“in Kosovo are estimated at 6027 students from 229 schools, and these results reconfirmed once again what has been known by the preliminary results, but also by numerous discussions that have been addressed in education quality”.
She said that in the next three months she will present a detailed plan for the goals they have about improving students' results for the next test.
