The Special Court in Albania is due today to give the move to former Prime Minister Sali Berisha, while the SPAK has demanded a “house arrest” and a ban on communication. The session is expected to begin at 12: 00 p.m.
Lawyers again demanded the expulsion of Judge Irena Gjona, claiming she was in conflict of interest.
The SPAK calls for Berisha's house arrest, his preservation with police officers, and the ban on communication with other persons other than the stated ones living with him in the apartment.
This move by the SPAK came after earlier, the former prime minister failed to implement the court's decision -- that of being obliged to appear before judicial police. Berisha has claimed that the SPAK's request was made contrary to the Constitution, as the request was not approved by parliament to lift his immunity.
Former Prime Minister Berisha is accused of allegedly corruption in connection with the privatisation of the former Partizan General. Under investigation of this file is his son-in-law, Jamarber Malltez, who is in mass security, house arrest.
