Two arms smuggling cases and other military equipment detained in Merdar

Border police in co-operation with Kosovo Customs have managed to uncover two smuggling cases.

According to official data, the tools found are military equipment.

They allegedly came from Austria and Italy.

During the past week, Kosovo Customs officials at the Merdara border crossing have managed to uncover two cases of attempted arms smuggling and other military equipment. Officials have managed to uncover cases thanks to the professional targeting of bus space that came from Austria and the other from Italy. In both cases officials have applied scanner checks where weapons have been professionally identified.

After the discovery, the legal competence, the cases have been passed to the Border Police for criminal prosecution against responsible persons.

Now that the launch of border crossings is very high, customs officials have been put in service to our citizens from the diaspora and at once are committed to implementing targeted controls to prevent cargo abuses at the crossings from persons prone to criminality. This is the balance aimed at maintaining Kosovo's Customs during the implementation of its relaxed but secure state border mission.
