Uncertainty in Kosovo on the rise, 28 murders in the past 11 months

28 murders have occurred in Kosovo for the past 11 months alone.

Between January 1st and 2023 and October 31, 2023, according to the Kosovo Police, 26 murders have occurred.

Also, on the evening of November 29th, Kosovo was shocked after two serious murders in Pristina, where, in separate cases, one woman and one man were killed.

Kosovo Police spokesman Bajram Krasniqi has said that “from January 1st to October 31st are counted 26 cases of murder”.

Furthermore, Krasniqi has added that recent cases of murder are still not processed in the statistics system, as they, according to him, are processed only after the month ends November.

Security expert Drizan Shala, for the Dukaagjini Portal, has said that security in Kosovo has emerged from its contributions, and that, according to him, has occurred due to increased violence, killings and robberies in recent times.

“Dhuna, the killings, as well as the robberies in these last days in Kosovo are delivering a message that public security has emerged from specific contributions guaranteeing individual security”, Shala has said.

One of the reasons for increased crime in the country, according to Shala, is the lack of economic and social welfare.

He has called on the state to take preventative measures to reduce crime in the country.

“The risks leading to such criminal acts are based on the lack of a real economic/social system of criminal robbery, while the murder and violence share is defined as the psychological factor of taking such criminal acts. The country's institutions would have to deal with the problem on a scientific basis by dealing with the ethiology and the phenomenon of action to take preventive action in the first stage and in the degree of hope, in the moment that progress of action does not stop at first”, Shala has declared.

According to the security expert, police should have operational plans in the fight against illegal weapons.

As for the last two murders in Pristina, Pristina Constitutional Prosecutor's spokeswoman Laureta Ulaj, in an answer to the Dukaagjini portal has said they are working on lighting up all circumstances.
