While it has been a week since the start of the conflict between Israel and Hamas, Albania is positioned alongside Israel.

Prime Minister Edi Rama, invited to Euronews, has explained why the government takes that stance.

“Basically, terrorism can never normalize. Those who view the situation from different perspectives should remember that those people [the Israelites] fought for thousands of years to have a home and return to it. ”

According to Rama, in the conflict of territory between the parties, Palestinians deserve to have a place they can call home.

There's absolutely no point in going home without finding a solution for others to have their share in that space, building their own homes. We're in a free world where there is a chance. But there is certainly no chance of relating and normalising the situation as well as going to the other extreme. The only way to resolve conflicts is to work hard to achieve peace,” stressed Rama.

Asked whether she met with Palestine's ambassador to Tirana after the launch of Hamas' attacks, Rama replied:

She's a very nice woman and I have a lot of respect for her. He didn't ask to see me. If you ask me, I'll be happy to meet him. ”

As attacks on both sides follow, the balance of victims has increased.

Israel has called on 1.1 million Palestinians in the Gaza Strip to move south of the territory, while the UN has considered the demand for mass evacuation dangerous.

More than 1,300 people have been killed in Israel since the launch of Hamas' attacks, while the balance of victims at the Gaza Strip exceeds 2,000 killed, following Israeli rebuttal.

The prime minister also shared a story of the peace effort between the parties that President Bill Clinton had told him at the dinner organised in honour of his historic visit to Tirana in July.

President Clinton told me that a few weeks before leaving the White House, there was the best peace agreement between Israel and Palestine on the table. The Israelites agreed to sign it. Yasser Arafat agreed to sign it. The following day Yasser Arafat called him and told him that despite the fact that Clinton had done more for Palestine than anyone else, that this was the best possible deal, he wouldn't sign it. Clinton asked if Arafat was aware that this golden opportunity would probably stop coming to the table and Arafat told him he knew but would not sign. Look at what tragedy of terrible proportions has emerged over the years, because a leader did not have the courage and bravery to end,” Rama added, clarifying that President Clinton had ordered him to convey this story to his <x2 enemies in Kosovo”.
