The LDK reacts after the RTK director is elected: Tensis for institutionalizing party propaganda

The Democratic League of Kosovo has reacted after the election of Rilind Gervalda director of RTK, declaring that the selection of a political activist at the helm of the Albanian channel of RTK represents the complete capture of the pblic broadcaster.

The LDK, too, has stated that this selection scatters the tendency of the psychiatrist to institutionalise party propaganda in public information channels.

“The LDK has carefully conveyed the process of selecting the Albanian-language director of the public broadcaster, Radio Television of Kosovo; in particular, after concerns raised for politicisation of selection by local and international organisations since the contest was announced. The selection of a political activist at the head of Albanian channels in RTK, except that it constitutes a complete grasp of this public institution, clearly spread and the tendency of power to institutionalise party propaganda in public information channels”, it is said in response.

Independent public information from an institution funded by public funds constitutes the basis of a sound and stable democracy. RTK, should have a crucial role in independent and fair information of all Kosovo citizens; and this role is exercised when powers do not determine editorial policies of information channels and do not put their party activists at the helm of these” institutions, it is said further.

According to the LDK, Kosovo citizens deserve an independent public television.

His political capture is just the continuation of bad policies that have characterised this public institution. Therefore, the Democratic League of Kosovo requires immediate annulment of the selection in question and will raise the topic of capture the public television institution, at the relevant parliamentary Commission in the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo”, it is said at the end of the response.
