Kurt and Osman today await American adviser Derek Chollet

According to the Presidency's announcement, the meeting between Osman and Chollet will be held at 13:30.

Meanwhile, the government has announced that Prime Minister Kurti's meeting with senior American adviser will be held at 14:30.

State Department adviser Derek Chollet from Wednesday will remain for official visit to Skopje, Pristina and later Belgrade.

Cholles initially will start his visit to Skopje, where he will talk with government representatives on a range of issues, including energy and the fight against corruption, to continue later in Pristina, where he will discuss with the heads of state for “an inclusive agreement on normalising reports with a focus mutual recognition of”.

In an interview last week for Voice of America, Chollet said his visit to Kosovo comes at a key moment as he recalled that Kosovo was visited years ago even with President Bill Clinton.

I expect to return to Kosovo. My last visit there was with Ambassador Holbrooke many years ago. I look forward to seeing my friends and colleagues there and talking to the president and Prime Minister” again.

The recent “weeks, unfortunately, have seen an increase in tensions between Kosovo and Serbia. In the last 48 hours, we have seen barricades build, we have seen border crossings reopen between Kosovo and Serbia. This is good news”, he added.

He stressed that he wants to focus on talks on the future of Kosovo and Serbia, as well as the European Union's proposal for normalisation of relations between Pristina and Belgrade.

“We think the EU has defined a sustainable path. Again, it will be difficult and will require a lot of work, difficult decisions and courage by leaders to put aside differences and do what is in their country's best interest”, Chollet had declared.

Meanwhile, the head of the Kosovo executive also said the US Undersecretary's visit is more than welcome because it comes at an important moment as an anniversary of the Russian invasion of Ukraine approaches, which began on February 24th, 2022.

Pos Chollet, in the Kosovo capital during January month, is expected to also launch EU mediator Miroslav Lajcak and senior French President and German Chancellor Jens Polotner and Emmanuel Bonne.

Meanwhile, on January 12th, it will be in Belgrade, where with the Serbian leadership it will discuss energy security, regional economic integration and progress towards Serbia's goal of joining the EU.
