Taking into account the mood of the Serbian public, which opposes Serbia's EU entry, if the condition for this is recognition of Kosovo, asks whether Serbia can give up European integrations?
I think there's little possibility for this“, according to Kupchan in an interview for REL.
According to him, Serbia's president, Aleksandar Vuciq, has been “capable of balancing and landing on two <x1 seats.
Serbia will eventually recognise Kosovo's independence and sovereignty and one of the key elements of this effort will be its integration into the European Union. However, it remains to be seen how and when that goal will be reached. I believe formal recognition should be a prerequisite. This is the leverage the European Union has in relations with Serbia: full membership in exchange for recognising Kosovo”, he said.
He has also spoken of French President Emmanuel Macron and that of German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.
The Macro and Scholz subx0> is timely and carries the correct message. Increasing tensions between Serbia and Kosovo ? and throughout the region in general requires a greater, European and transatlantic commitment. Both Macron and Scholz are truly right when they say that what is needed is the complete normalisation of relations between Kosovo and Serbia. Belgrade and Pristina have long had to make difficult decisions and achieve the compromises needed for this purpose”, it declares, in addition.
