Saturday morning on August 20th, the headquarters of the Russian Black Sea fleet in the occupied Crimea region was hit by a fearful attack.
Mikhail Razvozheyev, the manager appointed by Moscow's port city of Sevastopol, posted to the Telegram that the drone crashed on the roof of the building and that there were no victims.
A video showing a cloud of smoke over the building was posted on social networks.
The incident came just a day after Moscow confirmed that Deputy Admiral Viktor Sokolov had taken office as navy commander.
It was also the second time the Russian Navy headquarters was attacked by a threat. In late July, Sevastopol cancelled celebrations on Russia's Navy Day after a bomb dropped by a threat injured six people.
In April, the Russian Black Sea fleet's main ship, the Moscow missile cruiser, sank near Crime. Russia said an explosion of ammunition caused the damage that sank the ship, while Ukraine claimed it had sunk the ship with a missile attack.
On August 9, a Russian military base in Crime was rocked by several explosions that destroyed at least nine military aircraft. German news agency DPA on 19 August, citing Western military officials, said the air base attack Saky had put out more than half of the Black Sea Fleet aircraft and forced the fleet to take a defensive position.
On August 19th, Russian air defence was activated in the eastern city of Kerchi, which is the end of the Crime Bridge (also called the Carchi Strait Bridge), a high profile project with $4 billion spent to connect the Ukrainian - occupied region with Russian territory. The incident did not report damage to the bridge or to the city.
