Former KSF commander for the situation in the north: Security in Danger, Government Making Imature Decisions

Kosovo's north this week was not calm. The elections there expected to be held brought once more tensions. This led the Kosovo government to mobilise the rule police and send a number of members there, from which one injured policeman remained, writes Periscopi. Former KSF Commander Kadri Kastrati in a proposal for Periscop estimated that security in the northern part of Kosovo is at risk, thus criticising Interior Affairs Minister Jedal Svecla for the decision to send the police there.
“The situation is not right, security is the danger in that part of Kosovo. Of course, the Serbian List through that northern brigade, as they call it, is putting pressure on security institutions in the CEC, for not allowing elections as scheduled. I think security institutions would have to be very careful in co-operation with EULEX and KFOR so that people's lives are not endangered because they're willing to do everything, we're seeing that a cop was injured and I appreciate that it's not the time for elections, they're not the conditions for elections, even the minister of Internal Affairs himself would have to be more careful in making these decisions about police. He should not make decisions without co-ordinating with EULEX and KFOR in that part of Kosovo”, Kastrati told Periscope.
Contract Kastrati sharply criticised Kurti Government for what he says is taking non-mature decisions, populist decisions and contrary to Allied demands”.
If you go any further in strengthening what the elections should be held, I think the situation will get even more tense and I'm going to be very easy. I'm not going to the elections when the Serb community won't go to the elections, so we have two or three municipalities there that have no Albanian at all, or there's very little, and those elections wouldn't be democratic either. For that reason we have to listen to the United States and our partners, not to act contrary to their demands, and then to regret that the situation becomes difficult as we have done with the license plates that have not been done at all, and to keep up with bad decisions, not fair decisions, with populist decisions, but when making a decision must be made in co-operation with our partners and not fall behind that decision and be reached to the end. So we are humiliating the state, humiliating the institutions of the Republic of Kosovo with these populist decisions, with those decisions that are not applicable until the end. That's why I think the government and people in the government are making unwise decisions, not properly analysed, and we're finally falling into a very serious, very bad situation”, he added.

Following statements from Serbia that they plan to bring about 1,000 military troops to Kosovo, the former KSF commander had a message for Serbia.
Serbia will forget it now and forever. He in Kosovo can't bring anyone police or army. Serbs in Kosovo can only come as tourists. I don't care about that statement of Serbia, I worry about the decisions of the Kosovo government that are taken without analyzing, and without co-ordinating with our friends. Serbia lets forget what comes to Kosovo, it is a river. Kosovo is a state, such threats do not worry us much, and we should not deal with those threats. But we have to look at our jobs, not make our relationship with strategic partners worse, and make decisions that we can get to the bottom, or stay in the semi-”, Kastrati concluded.
We remember that the CEC is currently holding a meeting, which is expected to be discussed whether or not the elections scheduled to be held in the four northern Kosovo municipalities. /Iliriana Jylan-Periscope
