KFOR is currently monitoring the situation in the north, where Sunday on the Serbian side of the border near Jarinje some Serbs gathered protesting. At one point, protesters tried to cross the border but were prevented by police. They have insisted briefly on approaching the border point where KFOR troops were standing.
KFOR has not ruled out the possibility that there were even organised criminal groups.
Today, after active co-ordination with all sides, the Kosovo Force KFOR, KFOR Regional Command East has increased its presence in Jarinje for preventing security. This increase comes from the possible presence of organised criminal groups within protesters”, it was said in a communique.
Peacekeeping Mission NATO in Kosovo has announced on Sunday that the following days will launch military exercises near the Novosell base.
Thus, KFOR intends to prepare to react to crises. According to the community released, heavy military vehicles and helicopters will be used in these exercises.
