It was Winnicius Junior who came true after an assistant from Federico Valverde.
But veteran Christian Stevan made it from penalty in the 80th minute to get his team a very valuable point.
With this draw, Real Madrid remains first on the table with 32 points, one more than Barcelona.
On the other hand, Girona is in 16th place with 10 points collected.
