“Turns out that there is currently no European Union member state against visa liberalisation for Kosovo”, official EU sources for ABC have been expressed.

According to them, the misunderstanding relates to the modalities needed to be further discussed in the European Union Council visa working group within the framework of the visa liberalisation decision with third and concrete countries with Kosovo. These sources have explained that it is not just France but certain member states that require the involvement of the system E TIAS in the process of visa liberalisation.

The same procedure has been followed for Kuwait and Qatar, so it is not a specific issue related to Kosovo, as the system E TIAS goes into effect next year”, explaining these sources.

System ETIAS is the European Information and Travel Authorisation System. It's a completely electronic system that allows and keeps visitors data from countries that don't need visas to enter the Schengen Zone and not alone.

Earlier, the Czech presidency has split a statement published by ABC, saying the first meeting on visa liberalisation for Kosovo has confirmed broad support in the Bay of Member States, but clarifications on several topics are required and further discussions are needed. The presidency has not yet announced the upcoming meeting date, but is expected to crystallise positions on 21 October. /abcnews. al
