Football in Kosovo has a tradition of over 100 years, but August 20th of 1991 is the date that is written in gold letters in our football history. This date marks the establishment of the Federation of Football of the Republic of Kosovo, at a very difficult time, when our country was placed under the clutches of the Serbian occupier.
Today, it is 30 years from the day when prominent football personalities and people who had vision and courage decided to establish the Federation of Football in the Republic of Kosovo, finally separating themselves from the system of former federal states, which after the country's occupation with the forces of the Serbian regime, had no meaning for the people of Kosovo.
The Federation's founding framework was held at the Initiated School “Asim Vokshi” in Pristina's Hill district, as confidence to run this institution with unanimous delegates votes was given to the distinguished sports worker from Prizren, Agim Bytyqi. He, in addition to being visionary, was also a courageous intellectual to advance Kosovo's independent football development mission.
Thus, in addition to education, football and sports in general were organised under the jurisdiction of the Republic of Kosovo, which functioned under conditions of occupation. The organisation of the Federation and football events at that time was as difficult, as dangerous, for the participants themselves.
Although competitions took place far from stadium objects that were built in the sweat of the Albanian people, after being usurped by the conqueror, persecutions, tortures and beatings by Serbian police for federation officials, trainers and football players did not stop. But continued violence did not deter people of football and of the Republic and failed to break their holy will, desire, and mission to continue the course of soccer defeat.
Now when we celebrate this important jubilee, we undoubtedly give the highest respect and honor to all who were part of this period of sacrifice and resistance to the occupant. On this particular day, great thanks goes to all who contributed to the establishment of the Federation, the creation of conditions for hosting races, and for their continuation over the years.
Lasting respect and gratitude for First Chairman Agim Bytyqi and the first NFF chairmanship, but also the ongoing work of other leaders at the helm with President Rexhep Abdullah, then Chairman Sabri Hashan and Chairman Fadil Vokri. Gratitude and thanks to all football players, trainers, judges and sports workers who were part of the competitions, donors who kept clubs alive, families whose lands donated them to become football fields and fans who at each match were present to give courage to players in the field.
Everyone who was part of this institution has laid a precious stone on the foundation and strengthening of the football house, with which we are all boasting and boasting today. Today our football has become a success story in the world, so the EC and I are determined and will work on and on, so that the NFF as an institution will continue to progress and always be a big and successful home.
In the case of this important jubilee today under the FFK auspices, a solemn academy will be held at the school “Asim Vokshi”, at 11:00 p.m., where the random word will be held by former vice president of the first FF head, Gafurr Kabashi.
Eternal gratitude to all those who contributed to Kosovo football!
With pride and responsibility, we continue!
With respect,
Agim Ademi, president of NFF /Periscopi/
