This was Sterling's first career goal for England in an important competition.
And, after the match, he was interviewed by a woman. BBC Sports was hardly pleased to be asked if he had justified his invitation by marking England's winning goal.
After he paused for a few seconds, until he seemed surprised, Sterling responded by saying: ” I'm trying, I'm trying. ”
