Edita Tahiri letter to summit participants in Slovenia, urges mutual recognition of Kosovo- Serbia

Kosovo's former negotiator for dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia has demanded that the six Western Balkan countries join the European Union, mutual recognition between Kosovo and Serbia, opening negotiations with Albania and with Northern Macedonia, and halting the trends of Serbian hegemony. Tahiri's request is [...]

Tahiri's request has been made on the eve of holding the EU Summit with the Western Balkans. Tahiri further said it is important for Kosovo citizens to remove the visa regime.

“It is necessary to start negotiations with Albania and Northern Macedonia and to grant candidate status to Kosovo and Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as remove the EU visa regime for Kosovo citizens who are unjustly kept isolated. The EU must help the six countries of the Western Balkans to implement reforms, support their economic development and become EU members”, says Tahiri's letter.

Tahiri also wrote about reaching the final agreement between Kosovo and Serbia. She said peace in the region would be sustainable only if all peace treaties are respected.

We are convinced that peace in the region will be sustainable only if all signed peace treaties are respected and that the final agreement on normalising neighbourly relations between Kosovo and Serbia, facilitated by the EU and the US, should result in mutual recognition between the two states”, the final agreement said in its letter. /Express/
