Ahmeti: Refusion of gas pipe extension makes us depend on Serbia for electricity

Ahmeti, by means of a post at é Facebook, has said that failure to expand the infrastructure would make Kosovo more dependent on Serbia in terms of electricity.
“Despecting of the new thermal power plant and refusing to expand the gas pipes across Kosovo makes us dependent on dangerous percentages of electricity from Serbia or through Serbia making Serbia unnecessary in Kosovo”, Pristina's first said.
The capital's chairman has said that even if Kosovo wants to return a gas project would have much more costs.
We remember that the Kosovo government has requested additional information from the MCC for the gas pipeline project. The minister has said that they have done so to be able to make a informed decision on such a project.
Meanwhile, the Kosovo government, as Minister Rizvanolli has shown, has decided to move forward on projects proposed by the MCC, but that have more security and contribute to Kosovo's energy transition.

The gas debate is incorrect.
It is not the question whether you are pro or against America but what this decision does for Kosovo. Energy security is a matter of national security.
The failure of the new thermal power plant and rejection of gas tubes across Kosovo make us dependent on dangerous percentages of electricity from Serbia or through Serbia that makes Serbia with unnecessary power in Kosovo.
So the cost is understated because it doesn't involve the importance of security.
P.S. The gas project was not about buying gas, but it envisioned extending the gas infrastructure across Kosovo to enable us to decide whether it was gas or energy from other sources. The project included a 200m grant from the US and 97m loans from the EBRD.
This opportunity is lost. Now if we want to do the same thing it'll be very expensive and very difficult to connect with TAP. Gas costs cheaper than coal, has enough reserves, as well as an average of 50 percent less gas emissions than coal.
