The US president's special envoy for Kosovo-Serbia talks, Richard Green, said the leaders of the two countries will meet at the White House for talks on September 2nd.
Ambassador Green made the announcement Thursday on Twitter, but did not provide further details.
The meeting at the White House with the mediation of Ambassador Green was originally scheduled for June 27th, but plans failed because Kosovo's Special Prosecutor with headquarters in The Hague published the announcement of the still unconfirmed charges against Kosovo President Hashim Thaci and Democratic Party Chairman Kadri Veselin as suspects of crimes against humanity and war crimes.
Green said afterwards that the meeting would take place on a future date.
Meanwhile, on 16 July, Kosovo Prime Minister Avdullah Hoti and Serbia's president, Aleksandar Vucic, held the first meeting after 20 months mediated by the European Union. The two leaders discussed the issue of missing persons during the war, economic development and reconciliation to continue talks in September.
During a recent visit to Washington, Kosovo's co-ordinator for talks with Serbia, Skender Hyseni told Voice of America that Pristina sees the US role in Kosovo-Serbia dialogue as irreplaceable and that it had taken Washington's commitment in this direction.
He said dialogue with Serbia should take on a new dynamic and should culminate in mutual recognition.
