Over 400 football players have sought financial assistance from FIFA

More than 400 football players, most of them based in Europe, have applied for financial assistance based on a scheme created by the world's governing body FIFA.
So far there have been 441 applications at the FIFA Fund for Football Players (FFP), demanding unpaid salaries from clubs.
89 percent of those who applied were with clubs in Europe, with the remaining 11 percent in other parts of the world, broadcast news.
Players can apply by the end of June through the world players' union, FIFPRO.
FIFA President Gianni Infantino has set aside 12.3 million pounds to help players playing free between 2020-2022. An additional 3.8 million pounds have been allocated to players who played free of charge between 2015-2020.
