Sovetov's football player in Russia, Yevgeni Frolov, will be punished by his team after sharply criticising Russia's President Vladimir Putin and other Russian authorities in connection with their response to pandemic.
The 32-year-old goalie did the criticism in an interview with journalist Sergey Yegorov, stressing that the authorities' actions against the Coronavirus are irregular, while further accusing Putin of empty promises.
“What the president has declared on television is all meaningless. There are no real actions. We are forced to stay at home and no state aid,” said among other goalkeeper who caused the move against him.
The club issued an official statement saying their footballer violated the contract's rules by providing unauthorized interviews and damaging team interests. The club stressed that they do not share the opinion with the player and that he will be punished according to club politics.
