The country's president, Hashim Thaci, has urged the Kosovo government to meet with urgency to make a decision on tax removal, in line with official US demands, writes Periscopi.
” Confrontation with the US is very harmful, and an unforgivable mistake in Kosovo's modern history” has written the president.
His reaction comes after US Senator David Pardue's proposal for the withdrawal of American troops from Kosovo in the event no tax is lifted against Serbia. His proposal was supported by Richard Green, and the son of President Trump, who said that “is the time for American forces to return home”
President Hashim Thaci's full reaction.
As president of the Republic of Kosovo, I urgently ask the Government of the Republic of Kosovo to meet and make decisions in line with the official demands of the United States of America. Stop breaking our special relationship with the U.S., without which we would have no freedom, no state, no future. This approach is being questioned by the very future of our country.
All of us, heads of institutions, political leaders or governments, are replaceable. But vital and irreplaceable for the Republic of Kosovo are only reports with the US. Confrontation with the US is very harmful and an unforgivable mistake in Kosovo's modern history. HTH
