Italy has made final decision across the country for most Christmas and New Year's Eve.
The country will be under restrictions from the “red zone” during the holidays. Italians will be allowed to travel only for work, health and emergency reasons.
Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte said this was not a “light decision”, Periscopi broadcast.
Our “Experts were seriously concerned that there would be increased cases during Christmas... so we had to act,” he said at a press conference.
Italy has registered the highest death toll from Covid in Europe, with some 68,000 casualties.
Conte said the beginning of the vaccine would mark the beginning of the “end of this nightmare”.
What are the rules?
The limit of the “redzone” will be in effect throughout Italy from December 24th to January 6th 2021.
During this period people “can leave home only for work reasons, need and health”, Cteon said.
He added that by the rules it would be allowed to allow Italians at home to accept more than two guests, not including people under the age of 14.
The slightly cheaper brakes will be from 28 December to 30 December and 4 January. These days, people will be free to leave their homes, but bars and restaurants will stay closed.
Mr.Conte said the rules were designed to allow the minimal socialization that is appropriate for this period”.
He said police would not be sent to people's homes to control the rules, but urged Italians to act responsibly. / P ERISCOPI/
