The southern Indian region where Grandpa was born from Harris' mother wants the Democratic Party to win because of this family relationship. Meanwhile, a group claiming to have the support of the 5 million Hindus says that it wants Trump to be re-elected in order to control India's leading rivals, Pakistan and China.
Hours before the US presidential elections, people living in the village of Harris' grandfather (Thulasendrapuram) gathered at a temple for special prayer.
A local politician developed a “abhichamis”, a practice that involves pouring milk on a Hindu idol as religious verses are recited. More than 15 cars and motorcycles, belonging to reporters working for local and international media, had gathered in this village to attend the ritual.
While in Delhi, a group known as Hindu Sena (the Hindu army) joined a priest dressed in ferroan clothing to perform fiery rituals and sing verses for Trump's victory.
“India can only fight terrorism if Trump is near, so China and Pakistan will stay contained as long as he is president. We wish Harris and her Indian background, but the vice-chairs are not as powerful”, they said.
