Serbia's president, Aleksandar Vuciq, has said Serbia's position has not changed even after the signing of the agreement to normalise economic relations in Washington.
“As far as Serbia's position is concerned, it has remained unchanged”, Vuciq answered the question of a journalist.
Vuciq stressed that the agreement signed at the White House concerns only economic normalisation, saying that “has nothing political”, Russian media write.
Serbia's president stressed that he was not optimistic about resolving political issues.
It is clear that we are facing a very long process, difficult I would say and painful for a compromise, if that is possible”, Vuciq said.
Vuciq added that Serbia will protect its territory without joining any military facility.
Serbia will never join NATO or any other military facility. It will be an independent, autonomous state, free to adhere to the military neutrality policy”, he said.
According to him, Serbia will never impose sanctions against Russia even in the event of pressure on Belgrade.
Serbia has not decided and will never impose sanctions on Russia. Despite the fact that we were under pressure and maybe we'll be under pressure, we're on the European road, but we'll keep our position and we won't break relations with Russia”, Vuciq concluded.
On 4 September, Kosovo Prime Minister Avdullah Hoti and Serbia's president, Aleksandar Vuciq signed an agreement to normalise economic relations with US President Donald Trump's mediation at the White House.
This agreement against what Vucinq says also contains political points, not only economic points, as is Serbia's pledge to halt the campaign to attract Kosovo recognitions.
