Former Thai Prime Minister Yingluk Shinawatra has been equipped with Serbian citizenship.

Yingluck Shinawatra was sentenced to five years in prison on bribery charges after leaving Thailand in 2017.

Her brother, former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra, has Montenegrin citizenship

Serbia has granted citizenship to former Thai Prime Minister Yingluk Shinawatra.

Serbian state news agency Tanjug reported that the decision was made during a government session.

The government granted it citizenship because the move may be in Serbia's interest”, Tanjug quoted a statement by Serbian authorities as broadcasting AA.

Shinawatra can now travel visa-free to more than 100 countries, including European Union member states (BE).

She was sentenced to five years in prison on charges of bribery after leaving Thailand in 2017.

Her brother, former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra, has Montenegrin citizenship.
