A flight from Manchester had been postponed for nearly eight hours after a passenger mistakenly opened the emergency exit instead of the toilet door.
Pakistan International Airlines flight [ PIA was about to leave for Islamabad at 9: 20 p.m. on June 7th. The doors were armed, a form where emergency evacuation should occur immediately when the door opens.
Although the seat belts had been placed, one woman decided to use the toilet. But, by mistake, she opened the door to L5. It remains unclear why the crew could not prevent the incident.
In the Company's statement PIA says “A passenger accidentally opened the emergency door, causing the emergency state to activate. ”
Shortly thereafter, the flight was postponed, and all passengers left the plane.
The flight later took place at 5: 00 a.m. with far fewer passengers present. /Periscope
