Kosovo President Hashim Thaci has dismissed adviser Branislav Nikolic, who from the media reportedly was Serbia's secret service agent(BIA).
A press statement has been issued regarding this from the presidency.
Full statement:
The Kosovo president's office confirms there has been no preliminary and official information from Kosovo security institutions for the possible involvement of Branislav Nikolic in suspicious activities reported on in the media.
In addition, the president's office takes media reports of possible involvement in questionable activities, whether of criminal nature or of violating national security seriously.
Given the principle of law enforcement and giving space to security authorities to conduct independent investigations in this case, Republic of Kosovo President Hashim Thaci, based on his constitutional and legal competencies, has today freed Political Adviser Branislav Nikolic from office.
President Thaci remains committed to advancing the rights of non-Albanian communities and representing them at all levels of the central and local government, based on the Constitution of the Republic of Kosovo. The concrete case is simply a matter of rule of the order and law.
