On this visit, Bernd Thran, joined the Customs Council for Integrated Border Management (MIK) Alan Wilson, as well as the UNOPS representative, who has implemented the EU funding construction project.
This newly constructed crossing point, which after fully functioning will significantly cut the waiting time for travellers, is built according to the same high standards as the PPK in Merdare, including its adequate environmental design. Over the next few weeks, U n NOPS will hand over management of this Kosovo authorities' PC.
EULEX's deputy chief said this common border crossing would be a pity if we were to face obstacles that make this project fail.
“While this wonderful common border crossing point will perfectly satisfy the needs of the citizens who go through both directions, it would be sorry and completely avoidable if we faced obstacles which would prevent this brilliant project from becoming fully operational as we saw the PPK in Merdarne”.
According to Thran, this PPK will make a major difference in vehicle traffic during the summer season.
“Sic we know, traffic vehicles during the summer season for Kosovo and from Kosovo can become very heavy, and unnecessary expectations in long lines last for hours in the summer heat. This PC will make a big difference in the lives of all citizens who use it”
