Austria's Press Agency quoted Lauda's family as saying that he “died peacefully” on Monday.
Walter Klepetko, a doctor who performed a lung transplant in Lauda last year, said Tuesday: “Niki Lauda is dead, I must confirm this. ”
Its unique “Suxes as athletes and entrepreneurs are and remain unforgettable. His relentless course, his justice, and his courage remain an example and standard for all of us. ” says in the family statement.
Lauda has won Forum 1 titles with Ferrari and McLaren in 1975, 1977 and 1984. /Periscope/.
