People can be very harsh when it comes to showing how they view their bodies.
It has recently been found that men are more inclined than women to consider themselves attractive.
These findings are from a new study of German scientists who had conducted an experiment with 100 men and 100 females, all ages 18 to 30 years with a body mass index (BMI) of 18.5 to 23.5.
By contrast, BMI <x0idal” for women is considered to be 21.5 and 27.5 for males.
However, scientists have found that males tend to overestimate themselves in terms of beauty, while females value themselves almost as they really are.
The authors of the study say that excessive self - confidence is profitable for males because they feel more valuable and more satisfied with their bodies, but it also enables them to cope more easily with their bodily insecurities.
But why do women not overestimate their beauty?
Experts say it is important for women to appear friendly, and tou know group similarities in order to encourage harmony and positive feelings in the group.
Women are thus more considerate of not valuing themselves as better than other women in order to avoid being selfish or presumptuous.
