Former nurse published a book in which she identified five things that most often complain before they die.
Broony Ver of the Paulative Care Department, which has been caring for people during the last weeks of their lives, says it's strange that they complain before death because of five similar things.
Had I lived as I wished, not as others wanted
This is the most common cause of regret for most people who die, Broony says. I wish that I had the courage to lead a life in accordance with myself, instead of living as others expected, many told her before they died.
When they realize that their life is coming to an end, it is easy to see how many dreams have remained unfulfilled because of fear or peer pressure.
The majority of people have not fulfilled half their dreams and they die knowing that this is because of decisions they have not made. Health brings freedom that is a little conscious of most until it is lost. ”
At least I didn't work that hard.
That's what every male patient I took care of. They had not seen their children grow up and for a long time were separated from their wives, and at death they complained about those decisions. Women too can complain about the same reason, but most of those who said so were older men. In fact, many of my female patients were housewives. And all the men I took care of said they'd spent a lot of time making money,” she writes.
At least have the courage to express my feelings
Many people press their feelings to maintain peace with others. This results in a life that can be described in the expression “medium-size”. They never become what they really could be. Many are sick and concerned about the grief and injuries they have never uttered or resolved. ”
If at least I've stayed in touch with my friends
Many who die do not appreciate the true value of old friendships until the moment of death.
At least I had lived happier lives
This is a strange reason for regret. Many realize at the end of their life that happiness is their choice. Somehow they get used to their habits and behavior in their lives. Because of the fear of changing action and of others, and of themselves, they are pleased. However, those deep inside of them need a smile, and again have a little madness in their lives”, the author concludes.
