Hashim Thaci is the fifth president of the Republic of Kosovo. He has been the first prime minister of independent Kosovo, Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister in the new cabinet led by Isa Mustafa, who has taken office on 12 December 2014.

Thaci has also been the leader of the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK). He was established in the first place as political leader of the Kosovo Liberation Army (UÇK). Meanwhile, he had also served as head of a temporary government in the end and shortly after the war in 1999.
