In an answer to Periscope, Kosovo Police have indicated that 354 fines have been imposed on drunk drivers from January until now. For the last 15 days alone, 102 such cases were recorded.
According to police, a total of 901 sentences were handed down during the past year for this cause.
In addition, police say driving under the influence of alcohol is one of the greatest dangers in communications, which has recently become disturbing.
The driving/direction under the influence of alcohol involved one of the serious safety risks of road traffic. Loss of human lives as a result of causing accidents in our streets even during this beginning of the year has been disturbing. A driver has confessed to Periscope how in one night, he had encountered three police patrols for a shortcut. Two of them, very close to stopping him.
I was just driving down the Ferizaj-Pristina Highway, I was stopped by two police teams and asked if I had a drink. They were very close together. Fortunately, I had not consumed alcohol. Those patrols were designed to see which drivers were drunk on the street, this driver told Periscope.
