Amazing: Germans manage to detect cancer drug

Researchers have discovered on the surface of lymphoma a compound of proteins that harm cancerous cells. Accurate use of the mechanism on the surface of cancer cells leads to their death. It's not yet clear why cancer cells have left this “deer” open. However, Bonn University researchers and colleagues [...]
Apptamers are short DNA sequences that depending on the sequence of genetic construction units (noleotides) can be combined in various forms. Gunter Mayer, professor of chemical biology at Bonn University, and his colleagues have discovered just the right armament.
Researchers now want to study why cancerous cells carry on the surface proteins that destroy the cell itself. There are several theories about that. Mayer says that this may come from the fact that proteins are used to communicate with other cells and to spread the tumor. As long as it becomes clear that there's too much at stake in tumor treatment therapy, researchers will have much to do. So far we've tested the samples only in the” lab, says Meyer. But we must now test whether these DNA fragments have an effect even on the bodies of life. So in the coming years they're going to test the substance on rats. In addition, they have to find a way to give medicine. / DW/
