David Mernes, oceanography and the director of the aircraft that Emiliano Sala and pilot David Ibbotson were traveling, both people's family said they were dead.
Piper Malibu, the type of plane Sala was traveling from Nantes to Cardiff, was found on Sunday at the bottom of the sea near Guerseny Island. Oceanography and scientist David Mears, who directed research on this plane, has revealed that they had searched for several hours before they found the plane.
Yesterday it was reported that the Air Accident Investigation Office had found a body in the areas of the plane that had disappeared. Still, it is not known whether Sala's body is of pilot David Ibbotson.
Whatever family knows at the moment is that both [Sila and Ibbotson] are dead and they just want us to return their bodies. The most important thing is the body”, Mearns said.
“Troop relocation is the most important thing for both families. The plane is another thing, we want to get it out of the sea just so we can figure out the reason for the crash”.
What I know is that we only have one body right now, that's all I know. They tried to extract their body at night, and I know that it was not easy for them at all”.
Sala and the plane she was traveling with, Piper Mabu, disappeared along the way from Nantes to Cardiff on January 21st. Police Guerseny completed the search Thursday, January 24, after finding no trace after three days of research. /Periscopi/
