Germany urges Albania to prevent changing Kosovo- Serbia

German State Minister for Europe Michael Roth has reiterated that Germany opposes resolving the dispute between Serbia and Kosovo with a change of borders because change, he has correctly, would be very dangerous and would destabilise the region. He has said that the country's territorial integrity [...]
He in an interview for the Albanian-language DW has said the territorial integrity of Western Balkan countries is important to us. Efforts to shift borders have caused endless suffering in the past. Hence, I feel that these reflections not only promise little success but are also extremely dangerous. What we need is a comprehensive agreement, which eventually regulates relations, enables Serbia and Kosovo to join the EU and resolve with agreement all technical issues that are still open. From Albania we expect this to use its political influence constructively and continue to engage constructively for stability throughout the region. This is particularly true of issues related to normalisation between Kosovo and Serbia. It can only be in Albania's interest, as part of the region, to prevent at any cost a new destabilisation of the Western Balkans, which would inevitably result from changing borders.
Next Roth has stressed that Germany's position is that an agreement between Kosovo and Serbia should boost stability in both countries and in the region. I don't see how this can be achieved with changes of borders.
On the contrary, the Western Balkans would not cool down. From neighboring countries, I hear that they are concerned about this discussion because they see the danger of the domino effect. For EU membership processes, that would certainly not be useful at all.
