“We want Kosovo and Serbia to work together in normalisation, which will contribute to easing many other open issues that both countries have”, she said.

The American diplomat says NATO's desire is to overcome historical problems and establish the inclusive right of minorities on both sides of the border.

When it comes to relations with the KSF after the change of mandate in the military, Ambassador Hutchison estimates the Alliance will continue to work with Kosovo authorities for the deployment of military service, which would be properly regulated.

“That means involvement of all minority groups, but also increasing forces is for the benefit and security of Kosovo,” concluded Hutchison.

The American ambassador is located in Brussels, where at the ministerial meeting Wednesday and Thursday, discussion is expected on NATO's further engagement with the Kosovo Security Force following the change of mandate.
